“This is the first illustrated guide to the names of the long horned Ankole cows. The interest to compile the guide arose out of the author’s extensive interaction with cattle keepers in Mbarara District which used to be part of the old Ankole Kingdom.
The guide contains many photographs to illustrate the different names of Ankole cows and how they are derived. A section on words and terms associated with Ankole cows has been added to help the reader appreciate the significance of cattle to the culture of the Banyankore and other pastoral communities.”
