Alberta Centennial Trail Ride – Canadian Forces Base Suffield 2005 –

Captain Sterling T. Cripps (coordination, planning & writing), Daniel W.S. Engel (photography, editing, layout & design)

“In July of 2005, The Alberta Centennial Trail Ride took place on prairie grasslands that lie within the protective bounds of Canadian Forces Base Suffield, Alberta Canada. Planned and managed as a military exercise by officers and support personnel from DFB Suffield, this event marked Alberta’s 100th birthday and over 100 years of heritage. Spanning five days, the Alberta Centennial Trail Ride covered over 100 kilometres of terrain with over 800 horseback riders and nearly 100 wagons – making it one of the largest events of its kind ever held in Canada.

The purpose of this book is to impart a broader understanding of this event from its initial planning and organization to documenting that week on the prairies of South-Eastern Alberta. Further to this, it is my hope that you the reader, will be let with a deeper appreciation for the beauty and importance of the flora and fauna of this vast landscape – seldom seen by civilian eyes. …”
